From Malta: Gozo Day Trip Including Ggantija Temples & Lunch

About This Experience

This is the classic guided Gozo excursion, and it is the only tour in this comparison that pays the entry tickets AND feeds you. The cheaper guide-and-train version covers the Ggantija admission too, but leaves lunch out. That matters most at Ggantija: the temples date to roughly 3600-3200 BC, are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and are the one Gozo site where arriving without a ticket and a guide leaves you looking at very old stones with no idea what you are seeing.

The day starts with the 25-minute ferry crossing and works through Ggantija, the Citadel at Rabat, Xlendi Bay and the Inland Sea at Dwejra, travelling in air-conditioned vehicles with a licensed guide. A fixed-menu lunch with a glass of wine is included. At nine hours it is the longest day on this list, and it is the most comfortable.

The trade-off against a jeep or UTV is reach and pace. A coach cannot use the tracks that get you to Tal-Mixta or the quieter bays, and you move as a group. If your priority is understanding what you are looking at rather than photographing as much of it as possible, that is the right trade.
